About Karen Lapekas
Karen is a former IRS attorney who now represents clients against the IRS. As a Senior Attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, she was the lead attorney on over 170 cases in the U.S. Tax Court, and she also represented the U.S. in the collection of tax debt in bankruptcy court.
She now brings that experience to the other side of the courtroom — she does not want people to be burdened with the stress of tax audits or IRS collection activities. Her law practice focuses on ensuring people don't pay the IRS more than they should or more than they can afford.
Karen earned a Juris Doctorate in litigation from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and a master’s in tax law from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She is board certified in tax law by the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice law in the Michigan, New York, and Florida State Courts as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States Tax Court. She can represent clients in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Karen has an in-depth understanding of the tax code and is committed to helping her clients navigate its complexities. To get help with your tax issues, contact Karen today.
