I required extensive support from the Peter Salinger, EA company. Mr. Salinger was who was assigned to me. He took copious notes regarding my complex scenario and supported me through the entire divorce process to assure I'd not be left holding the tax liability bag after the divorce decree ink was dry. In my case, the services needed were a filing of the Innocent Spouse request, monitoring of the tax portal to keep me apprized of its status, and responding after the decision, because it was supposed to be paid by my then, spouse. I was being updated on what was happening in that IRS Portal regarding our tax account, so I could have a well tooled and significant response regarding how to manage my exposure for my best settlement outcomes. Additionally, Peter Salinger liaised on my behalf with the attorneys regarding authentic tax documents as opposed to those they were believing were authentic, Peter's knowledge, introduced authenticity regarding IRS documents that legal eagles had previously given credibility to that were actually non existent. The mediation attorney (who was a prior judge) nor other attorneys had any depth of knowledge on the Internal Revenue Service process, documents or laws. During the Marriage Settlement Agreement, they erroneously advised in the divorce decree that my spouse would be responsible for all tax liabilities, which, unfortunately, placed me in jeopardy. The IRS has no consideration for this decision written in the decree. Thanks to Peter's comprehensive depth of knowledge he shaved thousands of dollars off of an, already, extremely hefty divorce bill.
