About Sonya Barrett

Sonya graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1987, with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She began her career with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in 1988, as a Revenue Agent in the agency’s Small Business/Self-Employed Division. For over 12 years, she specialized in audits for individuals with businesses, partnerships, and corporate entities. In 1999, Sonya received her CPA license and began public practice in February of 2000.

In 2022, Sonya received her certification as a Tax Representative Consultant with the Tax Rep Network. She is dedicated towards helping clients work with the IRS to resolve their tax-related issues. During the year she attends multiple continuing education classes to keep her skills up to date with resolving her clients IRS tax problems.

Sonya represented us with the IRS and ensured we the end result was the best possible scenario. When I had tried to do it myself it was a mess she had to fix. She stayed on top of our account and any IRS correspondence. We have 100% confidence in her abilities as a CPA. She has prior experience working for the IRS and I believe that is a huge plus because she knows what they are expect, what their processes are. Her prices are reasonable considering what she does for us. I am happy to pay her to do what she does as she does it better than me and I don’t have to worry about any mistakes. As a bonus, she is a wonderful person. She is compassionate and easy to talk with.

I highly recommend her for personal and business taxes, especially if you have complex needs.

The IRS applied a bank levy to our personal account. Sonya was right on top of it and had it lifted in a very short time.
