About Richard J. Ebbinghouse
I help people rebuild their lives. We are here so that you are treated as an individual and not simply face a bureaucracy as a number. I use my litigation skills in representing people with tax problems before the IRS and Indiana Department of Revenue. This includes audits and owing money to the IRS or Indiana Department of Revenue. We use installment agreements, offers in compromise to resolve tax debts, and bankruptcy to resolve tax debts as well as consumer debts. It also means challenging both the IRS in IRS hearings, IRS Appeals, and the U.S. Tax Court or the Indiana Department of Revenue in hearings and Indiana Tax Court.
We also help people who have not filed returns get back in the system and find workable solutions for them to avoid being criminally prosecuted for not filing tax returns.
I have litigated cases in many U.S. District Courts, federal courts of appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. Prior to working to solve tax problems, I worked in Selma, Alabama as a legal aid lawyer and later in Birmingham as a civil rights lawyer. I represented clients in employment discrimination cases, race, sex, pregnancy, and age discrimination. Those were both individual cases where people were discriminated against as well as class actions against large employers and state and federal government.
