About Darrin T. Mish
For more than three decades I have spent my days on one side of the desk: standing between taxpayers and the IRS. Back taxes, audits, wage garnishments, bank levies, federal tax liens, Offers in Compromise, installment agreements, Currently Not Collectible status, unfiled returns, and payroll-tax trouble — federal tax controversy is the only thing my firm handles.
What sets my practice apart is not a slogan; it is perspective. Years ago I fell behind on my own taxes and felt exactly what my clients feel when that certified letter arrives: the fear, the shame, and the not knowing where to start. That experience is why I never judge, and why I explain every option in plain English instead of hiding behind legalese.
Over the years I have resolved more than $100 million in tax debt for over 5,000 clients, from a single unfiled year to decade-long collection nightmares. I am admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, and I have been asked to train other attorneys, CPAs, and enrolled agents on how to handle their toughest IRS cases.
Here is the truth I have learned in 32 years: the reality is almost always more manageable than the nightmare in your head, but only once you stop avoiding it. There are real programs built to help people who cannot pay, and there is nearly always a path forward. The first step is simply talking to someone who does this every single day.
