Marc Anthony, the singer, musician, producer, and actor has received an unwelcome Christmas gift from the New York government: a demand for $1.8 million in back taxes according to radaronline.com. On March 29th, NY State filed a tax lien against his Nassau County home on Long Island, was served with a $1.6 million Federal tax lien on the same property in January. As of right now, it is uncertain if his tax problems have been cleared.
This is not the first time the “I Need to Know” singer has faced tax problems. In 2007, Anthony owed $2.5 million to the federal government for evading paying taxes for some 4 years. According to reports, Anthony reported this “lack of insight” to poor business management, and ultimately paid the fine after pleading guilty to the fine in court.
Marc Anthony married fellow Grammy singer, Jennifer Lopez in 2004 and have twins together: Max and Emma. They are planning on expanding their own line of clothes, the Jennifer Lopez Collection, to Kohl’s department stores. Reportedly, Anthony earns $11 million annually, where Lopez earns some $40 million a year.
