About Alyssa Whatley
Alyssa Maloof Whatley serves individuals, self-employed individuals, and small to medium-sized businesses that are seeking federal tax, state tax, and other liability relief, including bankruptcy. She has significant experience with federal and state tax disputes, audit defense, offers in compromise and other tax liability relief, and trust fund recovery defense. In her bankruptcy practice, Alyssa helps clients analyze their liabilities and evaluate the various bankruptcy options, coming to a solution that best fits each client. Alyssa graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law. During her third year of law school, she interned with U.S. Bankruptcy Judge the Honorable Margaret A. Murphy. In addition to being admitted to the bar in Georgia, Whatley is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Georgia and the United States Tax Court. Alyssa is a popular tax and bankruptcy speaker both in Georgia and nationally. She has been involved in a number of professional organizations, including serving as a former president of the Metro Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney Group. She was the 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Alyssa is also a member of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Tax and Bankruptcy sections and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. In addition, Alyssa was selected as a SuperLawyers 2019, 2020, and 2021 as a Rising Star for tax law. When she is not assisting clients with tax or liability issues, you can often find Alyssa roller skating on the Beltline or teaching lessons in a rink. She is a former national champion roller figure skater. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
